Why Do I Rage When I Love Him So Much? Understanding the links between stress, children, and violence
Presented by: Jason Forgash, Det. La Habra Police Department
This interactive presentation will address the stressors that parents and guardians face in raising children. What impact do a lack of support, financial problems, children with special needs, alcohol and drugs, and emotional disorders have on child-rearing? The presentation will then delve deeper into adult expectations of children and our reactions to their behavior. What impact do our own childhoods play in how we respond to our children? Finally, the presentation will plunge deeper into the types of anger and the links with violence, dispelling myths that these feelings and behaviors are aberrations or irrational. Gaining an understanding into these manageable aspects of the human condition, attendees will leave the presentation with greater insight into their environment, their children, and themselves.
